Potential candidates and their key supporters running attended American Majority's first Louisiana candidate training event on Saturday, August 23rd , 2008 at the Holiday Inn Select in Baton Rouge. 

Participants received guidance on fundraising, new media strategies, and grassroots organization, and how to handle the local media.  Participants were also able to receive one-on-one communications training.   One Metro-Council District 6 candidate stated that the one-on-one training provided great tips that enhanced her ability to communicate with her constituents and the public at large.

"It's always hard for a candidate to give up their day on a Saturday, but overall it was worth it.  I felt that the program provided excellent information," she went on to say about the event.

Participants gave shining reviews for head trainer Chris Faulkner of Faulkner Strategies and Tim Miller from Berman and Company.  Jeb Bruneau of The Pelican Institute also engaged the group during a presentation about transparency in local government, which is a growing topic of concern in the state.
