More than twenty campaign volunteers, community activists, college students and eleven local candidates gathered in the capitol city on Saturday, July 19, 2008 for American Majority’s second Kansas campaign training of the summer.

The all-day event, held at the American Majority Kansas office in downtown Topeka, featured training on communicating with voters and the media, planning for a campaign, fundraising, and using new technology to reach voters and raise funds.  Each candidate also received individual training on communications and strategy from nationally-recognized communications consultants.

Senator Dennis Wilson, Regional Director of American Majority Kansas, said he was very pleased with the candidates who attended the event, and believes that they received the finest training available. 

“This is the most thorough and the most accurate training I have ever been involved in.  The level of detail and professionalism in the training will be very useful to attendees in the coming months,” Wilson said. 

Candidates expressed their appreciation of the opportunity as well.  Dick Miller, candidate for the 67th House district said that the personal speaking session “was very helpful.  I rewrote my stump speech three times during this session.”  Cheryl Reynolds, candidate for the 57th House district said, “I appreciate the principled approach to the political process advanced by American Majority.”
