5 Unique Aspects of Campaign-In-A-Day

5 unique aspects of ciad
March 3, 2020

Since 2016, American Majority has provided the Campaign-In-A-Day (CIAD) training event to over 1,600 attendees through 36 events. The event brings campaign training to life for attendees by placing them into roles of those on actual campaigns. What makes this training unique to other campus training offered around the country? Here are 5 aspects that you’ll find that set the Campaign-In-A-Day event apart:

1 – Combines Training and Practical Method

Our training gives students the tools necessary to be an effective leader as they determine whether and how they will serve their community in the future. During the Campaign-In-A-Day training, attendees use what they learn through short lectures, Q & A periods, and worksheets to perform in a simulated campaign on-the-spot. Fundraising techniques, practical use of a candidate’s time, and appropriate messages to voters are just a few of the tools necessary to run a successful campaign that an attendee will experience in CIAD.

2 – Teamwork

In real life, to be successful on a campaign or as an activist, it is essential to be part of a cohesive team. Campaign-In-A-Day places attendees on campaign teams that must work together to bring their candidate to victory. Each team member has a different role to fill along with different skill sets they bring to their team. These differences will get team members to work on the art of delegating tasks properly, as well as finding where each member is best suited to take the reins to help their team succeed.

3 – Learning to Objectively Defend Positions

Each team is given a fictitious candidate that they work to bring to victory. Whether members are given a candidate with the same party affiliation or not, people will have differences in opinion on policy, personal choices, or decisions candidates have made in their past. This strengthens attendees’ ability to think through opinions they haven’t previously considered and how to best put themselves in the shoes of their real life opponents. This technique helps to better articulate attendees’ views when faced with real world situations.

4 – Competitive Drive

Unlike other trainings, Campaign-In-A-Day pits two teams against each other working to bring their own candidate to victory. This enhances the training by adding an extra element to “why” attendees want to learn. The competitive aspect helps to get as much out of the training as possible in the short term to strengthen what attendees remember and are able to put into practice in the long term.

5 – Instant Feedback

Day-of assignments, along with teams facing off in front of a panel of judges to end the day, give attendees initial feedback to learn and grow. Unlike different training from other vendors, participant feedback doesn’t have to come from your success or failure on election day. Campaign-In-A-Day offers day-of training correction which allows attendees to course correct before implementing their ideas in real life. This approach puts new leaders a step ahead of their future competition.

The Campaign-In-A-Day program is a unique experience essential to the politically-minded person and those who wish to affect improvement in their communities. For more information or to request a Campaign-In-A-Day for your group visit American Majority’s splash page
