5 Ways To Be Politically Involved While Social Distancing

social distancing
March 18, 2020

Across the country and the world, we are spending more time at home and away from other people. Some say this is an introvert’s dream, but even many introverts have their limit of solitude or reduced social interaction. This virus has not only disrupted our daily lives, but also major events such as the political campaign that is well underway for the White House in November. Many states have postponed their primaries and major candidates have resorted to virtual campaign events. At the local level too, politicians and activists alike have had to put their thinking caps on to develop innovative and creative ways to bring their message to the public.

Whatever your goals are this year, whether you are running a campaign, engaging with activism, a student or group leader, or even just someone who wants to stay informed, we have compiled a list of ways that you can be politically involved while you are practicing social distancing.

1. Attend webinars!

Seminars on the web where you can learn from others without being near them – that sounds like a pretty foolproof plan to be politically involved while social distancing. So much so that we have compiled a series of webinars over the next few weeks to bring you the tools you need to prepare for a win in 2020 – whether that is for a campaign or an activism agenda. Check out our upcoming webinars HERE!

2. Engage on Social Media

More people are online right now than usual so be sure that you are still producing informative, engaging and worthwhile content. You do not have to spend hours in front of a screen either. Simply engage with other users on Twitter, reshare an article, create an inspiration quote for Facebook. It does not have to take all hours of the day – but there are little things like this that you can do to keep your page relevant in the midst of a pandemic.

3. Host your group’s events online

There are so many software options for virtual group meetings today. From Google Meet to Zoom and anything in between. Host the meetings your group had planned online instead so your message can still be shared without sharing germs. Need help on where to start? Let us know and we would be happy to get you started!

4. Online Courses

This time spent away from others is also a great time to learn something you have always been meaning to if only you had the time. Want to learn what it takes to run for office? We have a course for that! Want to learn how to maximize your social media presence? We have a course for that too? Want to level up your campaign or activist platform? You guessed it, we have a course for that. Now is your chance to learn something new. You can get started today with an array of quality courses on just about any topic a politically engaged individual such as yourself would desire.
