We’re just a day away from the largest conservative conference in the country. People are coming from across the nation, and the world, to learn more about how to advance conservative philosophy. But how can you get the most out of it? You will have just a few days to explore the booths, listen to speakers, and network with fellow conservatives. Here are 7 tips to get the most out of #CPAC2017.

1. Utilize training opportunities

Everyone knows that CPAC is the largest gathering of conservatives in America each year, but it is so much more than a “gathering.”  CPAC is an opportunity to learn applicable skills from some of the brightest minds in the conservative movement. Take advantage! You won’t see these bootcamps in the headlines or on TV, but they are truly what makes CPAC great. Get equipped!

2. Network for NEW ideas

CPAC is a melting pot of conservative perspectives from around the country. This wealth of experience all in one location is an opportunity to learn from the real world. As you meet fellow liberty-lovers throughout the week, draw on others’ experiences and ask questions! Only talk 25% of the time – spend the other 75% listening! You might just stumble upon on the next great idea for your campus or activist group.

3. Get Social

CPAC is a great time to generate conversation on social media. If you are attending the festivities, take pictures and “live-tweet” speakers and bootcamps that your followers would appreciate. By presenting your experience online, you can show your audience that you are engaged, plugged-in, and ready to become a leader in the conservative movement. Use #cpac2017 to connect with other conference attendees online as well!

4. Give and Take

How can you help others? Just as you receive valuable training and information, look for opportunities to contribute. The conservative movement is a team – and you have a role to play! Use this opportunity to help others in their cause, with their organization, or even campaign. Conservatism needs the next generation of leaders to rise up – you have lots to offer others!

5. Walk the booth floor

No, it’s not just about the candy and the swag you can pick from the many conservative organizations represented at CPAC. Talk to them! Get to know their stories, what they’re doing, and find opportunities to work together. Each organization does something a little different. Engaging with these groups will give you an excellent sampling of the awesome things that conservatives are doing.

6. Don’t get addicted to your phone

Have you ever found yourself grabbing your mobile device instinctively and opening a random app without a reason? If you’re at CPAC and you find yourself with a spare moment, don’t go for the phone. Instead, find someone around you that you don’t know and strike up a conversation. The people around you are a lot more important than your next unopened Snapchat message. By all means, tweet and share productive content from the event, but don’t get lost in your phone just because it’s there.

7. Come see us at American Majority

American Majority is extremely grateful for the opportunity to train at CPAC, and we can’t thank the American Conservative Union enough for putting on this great event. We would LOVE to see you at one of our many bootcamp sessions. These trainings are not for us, they’re for you. We exist solely to equip people like you with the tools you need to succeed. As the organizing arm of the right, American Majority is a resource. Utilize our bootcamp sessions as a way to learn applicable skills, meet like-minded activists, and talk with us. See you at CPAC 2017!
