TRUTHS EXPLODE ON THE FOURTH

July 8, 2010

The arrival of Independence Day 2010 encouraged me to do some reflecting on the frustrating political fray that swirls continually around us.
I have had nearly 2 years in this churning cauldron and – as with all things in life – the deeper we wade into anything in this life, the more we learn how much we do not know. Still, it is possible that I’ve managed to discover some things along the way that will make me a more effective servant to my God, a stronger wife to my husband, a better mother to my children and dedicated citizen to my country.
For instance:
* No matter what stand I take, regardless of the facts or logic, there ALWAYS will be someone ready to argue on the other side.
* It is better to always start any conversation with a question than an answer.

*It is easier to discuss and debate with facts than argue out of emotion.

* People don’t care how much I know until they know how much I care.
* Having passion and willingness is not the same animal as possessing conviction and knowledge.
* There are some who will NEVER acknowledge Truth when it is laid before them, no matter how many ways the truth of any issue or position is presented.
* My job is simply to be obedient to the call that God has put on my heart it is not to be successful as that is defined by humans. Doing the work is my duty. The outcome is His alone.
* Most people have an opinion about the majority things, though they have no idea where their opinion came from, or if it based in fact.

I call this particular situation: “The Purple Sky Theory”. That theory says that to change something in the public perception all you need do is get a number of people to collectively agree to continually repeat the fallacious fact – and without equivocation. For instance, if a handful of people with influence decide today to insist the pastel blue sky is purple and repeat that consistently even when most others disagree. Over time, you instruct children that the sky is purple and voila! Within a generation, the majority are calling the sky purple rather than the blue it is. It’s become another fallacious fact across most of society.
Look around you today. It’s been happening now in many areas from American history to the environment for years now. This can be changed through an unrelenting dedication to what is known and proven truth as well as eternal vigilance.
My husband, Mike, conceived his own version of this scenario: “Evil flourishes and grows in proportion to the degree that truth is violated.”
So please, become and stay factually informed, and pass the truths on.

    It’s “voila,” dear, not “ouala!”

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

    Sign of the [end] times.
